Ortho-selective C-H arylation of phenols with N-carboxyindoles under Bronsted acid- or Cu(i)-catalysis

Nguyen H. Nguyen et al.

Summary: The study presents a strategy to invert the normal polarity of indoles in heterobiaryl coupling, achieving exclusive ortho-selective coupling with phenols. Various substrates coupled with exceptional efficiency and selectivity under the action of Brønsted acid or Cu(i) catalysts at ambient temperature.

On the Copper-Promoted Backbone Arylation of Histidine-Containing Peptides Using Triarylbismuthines

Hwai-Chien Chan et al.

Summary: In this study, we investigated the histidine-directed backbone arylation of histidine-containing peptides using triarylbismuth reagents. The reaction occurs on the backbone NH of the amino acid preceding histidine, known as the n-1 position. The protocol is applicable to dipeptides with histidine at the C-terminus and tripeptides with histidine at the central position. The reaction is facilitated by copper(II) acetate, phenanthroline, and diisopropylethylamine in dichloromethane under oxygen at 50 degrees C. The imidazole ring of histidine is protected to prevent side chain arylation.

Development of Pd Supported Catalysts Using Thiol-Functionalized Mesoporous Silica Frameworks: Application to the Chemo- and Regioselective C-3 Arylation of Free-Indole

Marc Renom Carrasco et al.

Summary: The study presents the development of Pd-supported catalysts for the selective C-3 arylation of free indole, showing that catalysts with isolated surface thiol groups and high Pd loading exhibit the highest activity. By optimizing the design, high catalytic performance with low metal leaching during the reaction can be achieved.

The first bismuth self-mediated oxidative carbonylative coupling reaction via BiIII/BiV redox intermediates

Fengqian Zhao et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel redox system involving Bi-III/Bi-V was developed for the oxidative carbonylative coupling of triarylbismuthines. Possible intermediates were prepared and studied, with the ArC(O)-Bi-V species formed by CO insertion identified as the key to reductive elimination in product formation. Intermolecular aryl exchange between bismuth reagents was also observed, leading to a proposed reaction mechanism.

Pd/beta-cyclodextrin-catalyzed C-H functionalization in water: a greener approach to regioselective arylation of (NH)-indoles with aryl bromides

Peng Xu et al.

Summary: A greener and more practical strategy has been developed for the site-selective C-H arylation of (NH)-indoles via coupling of (hetero)aryl bromides, enabling the synthesis of specific C3-arylindoles in water. The method combines aqueous homogeneous catalysis and ligand mediation, allowing for a broad substrate scope and functional-group tolerance.
