Rnf20deficiency in adipocyte impairs adipose tissue development and thermogenesis

Xiaojuan Liang et al.

Summary: The adipocyte-specific knockout of RNF20 in mice resulted in progressive fat loss, organomegaly, and hyperinsulinemia, leading to severe liver steatosis in high-fat diet-fed mice. Despite signs of hyperinsulinemia, normal insulin sensitivity and improved glucose tolerance were observed in the knockout mice. Reduced expression of BAT selective genes and impaired mitochondrial functions were observed, highlighting the critical role of RNF20 in adipose tissue development and physiological function.

Sertoli cell-only syndrome: etiology and clinical management

Nasrin Ghanami Gashti et al.

Summary: Male infertility can be attributed to Sertoli cell-only syndrome (SCOS), characterized by azoospermia and a lack of germ cells in the seminiferous tubules. While diagnostic tools like testicular biopsy can identify SCOS, treatment options such as sperm retrieval and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) are available. Future research is crucial in advancing the understanding and management of this disorder.

Identification of genomic imbalances (CNVs as well as LOH) in sertoli cell only syndrome cases through cytoscan microarray

Aiyush Sharma et al.

Summary: Sertoli cell only syndrome (SCOS) is characterized by complete absence of germ cells in seminiferous tubules of testis. Genetic factors, including sex chromosomal aneuploidy and Yq Microdeletion, play a major role in the pathogenesis of SCOS. The study evaluated genomic imbalances in idiopathic SCOS patients and identified various genetic abnormalities related to SCOS pathogenesis, including sex chromosomal abnormalities and Yq microdeletions. Further research is needed to explore the mechanisms of these genomic imbalances in the pathogenesis of SCOS.

Novel Bi-Allelic Variants of FANCM Cause Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome and Non-Obstructive Azoospermia

Yuxiang Zhang et al.

Summary: The study identified compound heterozygous variants in FANCM in two NOA-affected brothers and a homozygous variant in FANCM in a sporadic case with NOA. H&E staining and immunohistochemistry revealed Sertoli cell-only Syndrome in the three NOA patients. This study provides new insights into the genetic etiology of NOA and expands the knowledge of variants in FANCM.

Identification of Histone Modifications Reveals a Role of H2b Monoubiquitination in Transcriptional Regulation of dmrt1 in Monopterus albus

Fengling Lai et al.

Summary: This study examined histone modifications in gonadal differentiation, identifying new modification sites and their relationship with different types of gonadal differentiation. The research also discovered a testis-enriched histone modification site associated with spermatogenesis, emphasizing the importance of histone modifications in the transcriptional regulation of sex-determining genes during gonadal development.
