Education inequalities in cardiovascular and coronary heart disease in Italy and the role of behavioral and biological risk factors

Summary: This study evaluated the impact of education differences on the incidence of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and coronary heart disease (CHD) in Italy, as well as the role of behavioral and biological risk factors (BBRF). The findings revealed a higher risk of CVD and CHD among individuals with lower education levels. BBRF played a significant mediating role in the education inequalities.

Summary: Socioeconomic inequalities contribute to the detection and treatment disparities of hypertension in middle-income countries. The prevalence of undetected hypertension is significantly associated with lower socioeconomic status. In some countries, there is a significant gradient in uncontrolled hypertension. Differences in rural-urban areas and education levels account for the largest proportion of socioeconomic inequalities in hypertension detection and control.

Bowed, Bent and Broken: Investigating Enrolments of Scheduled Castes/Tribes to Technical Higher Education Programmes in Kerala

The study suggests that the government deliberately withholds this data and argues that without government intervention, the situation in Kerala will worsen.

Educational differences in diabetes and diabetes self-management behaviours in WHO SAGE countries

Summary: The study found that there is a positive association between years of education and diabetes diagnosis in Ghana and India, with higher education levels correlating with higher rates of diabetes diagnosis. In India, higher education levels were also associated with increased leisure physical activity, fruit and vegetable consumption, adherence to special diets or insulin injections, but also with higher BMI, waist, and hip circumference.
