Surgical site infection prevention bundle in elective colorectal surgery

L. K. Dixon et al.

Summary: The study aimed to reduce the rate of superficial surgical site infections (SSIs) after elective colorectal surgery by implementing a bundle of evidence-based interventions. Following the implementation of measures such as triclosan-coated sutures, 2% chlorhexidine skin preparation, and the use of warmed carbon dioxide (CO2), the rate of superficial SSIs was significantly reduced.

The Impact of Care Bundles on the Incidence of Surgical Site Infections: A Systematic Review

Pinar Avsar et al.

Summary: This systematic review examines the effects of care bundles on the incidence of surgical site infections (SSIs). The findings indicate that implementing care bundles significantly reduces the odds of SSI development. However, more research with standardized care bundles is needed to confirm these results.
