The effect of the Original MethOd at pharmacy To ENhAnce Support for Health Improvement in the limited Japanese proficiency patients visiting local community pharmacy: A randomized controlled trial☆

Summary: With the globalization, the number of non-native-speaking citizens and tourists visiting local pharmacies is growing rapidly, creating language and sociological problems. This study compared the effectiveness of adding the original method, OMOTENASHI, to the conventional medication counseling method (CMC) when counseling non-Japanese patients at the pharmacy. The results showed that the OMOTENASHI method improved the comprehension level of non-Japanese patients and provided essential medication information.

Perceptions of the COVID-19 pandemic in Japan with respect to cultural, information, disaster and social issues

Summary: Preliminary results from a questionnaire survey of 600 respondents in Japan showed that most people had good hygiene habits and low resistance to wearing masks before the COVID-19 pandemic. Internet news was the primary source of information, and half of the respondents indicated they would stay at home during a disaster in the current pandemic situation. If a state of emergency needed to be reinstated, approximately one-third of respondents could bear it for a few months, while another one-third could bear it for a few weeks.
