Changes in efficiency of tertiary public general hospitals during the reform of public hospitals in Beijing, China

Junli Zhu et al.

Summary: The efficiency of Beijing's tertiary general public hospitals has gradually improved during the healthcare reform period, with an increasing proportion of highly efficient hospitals, which has partially alleviated the difficulty of seeking medical treatment at national medical centers in Beijing. Combining the Pabon Lasso model and the DEA model provides a comprehensive analysis of hospital efficiency and initial information for improvement, highlighting some existing issues that need to be addressed.

Evaluating the Operational Efficiency and Quality of Tertiary Hospitals in Taiwan: The Application of the EBITDA Indicator to the DEA Method and TOBIT Regression

Chung-Shun Lin et al.

Summary: This study evaluates the efficiency of 19 tertiary hospitals in Taiwan using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and TOBIT regression. The results show that the majority of hospitals have high technical and pure technical efficiency, but improvements can be made in terms of surplus or deficit of appropriation, modified EBITDA, and self-pay income. Variables such as bed quantity, occupancy rate, and turnover rate of fixed assets are closely correlated with performance. This study provides valuable insights for enhancing hospital efficiency.
