Prevalence of dyslipidemia and its association with opium consumption in the Rafsanjan cohort study

The profile of Rafsanjan Cohort Study

Summary: Rafsanjan is a unique city in Iran, known for its large human-made pistachio jungle and the second largest copper mine, as well as its location on the opium trade route. Concerns about health outcomes in this city led to the initiation of the Rafsanjan Cohort Study, which revealed a concerning prevalence of non-communicable disease risk factors. Further investigations and interventions are needed to address these health issues.

Validity of self-reported substance use: research setting versus primary health care setting

Summary: The study found that the prevalence of substance use based on urine tests was significantly higher than self-reported substance use in the past 72 hours in both research and primary health care settings. There were variations in the agreement levels between self-reported substance use and urine tests, especially for substances with higher social stigma.
