Esketamine-based opioid-free anaesthesia alleviates postoperative nausea and vomiting in patients who underwent laparoscopic surgery: study protocol for a randomized, double-blinded, multicentre trial

Hai-yan Chen et al.

Summary: This study aims to investigate whether the use of esketamine in intraoperative analgesia can reduce the side effects of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) and other short-term adverse effects. The goal is to provide a safer and more satisfactory analgesic strategy for laparoscopic appendectomy and cholecystectomy.

Impact of intravenous and topical lidocaine on clinical outcomes in patients receiving propofol for gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures: a meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials

Kuo-Chuan Hung et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the use of intravenous or topical lidocaine as an anesthesia adjunct in gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures. The results showed that lidocaine administration reduced post-procedural pain, risks of gag events, and involuntary movement. Only intravenous lidocaine decreased the dosage of propofol required, increased endoscopist satisfaction, and shortened recovery time. Overall, lidocaine appears to be safe and beneficial for improving propofol sedation in gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures.

ED50 and ED95 of propofol combined with different doses of esketamine for children undergoing upper gastrointestinal endoscopy: A prospective dose-finding study using up-and-down sequential allocation method

Xiao-Su Zheng et al.

Summary: In children undergoing diagnostic upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, the total dosage of propofol needed was significantly reduced in esketamine 0.5 and 1 mg/kg groups, leading to a corresponding decrease in propofol-related hemodynamic changes. However, a higher incidence of esketamine-related adverse effects was found in the esketamine 1 mg/kg group.

Sedative effect and safety of different doses of S-ketamine in combination with propofol during gastro-duodenoscopy in school-aged children: a prospective, randomized study

Junxia Wang et al.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the sedative effect and safety of different doses of S-ketamine in combination with propofol in school-aged children undergoing gastro-duodenoscopy. The results showed that S-ketamine (0.7 mg/kg) combined with propofol can provide satisfactory sedation and reduce the dosage of propofol, but there is a higher incidence of postoperative dizziness and longer PACU stay.
