Economic, Environmental and Social Impact of Carbon Tax for Iran: A Computable General Equilibrium Analysis

Seyed Farhan Moosavian et al.

Summary: Carbon taxes not only aim to reduce pollutant emissions and improve environmental quality, but also have positive effects on welfare and employment by reducing labor taxes. Research findings show that implementing carbon taxation with the redistribution of revenue can effectively reduce greenhouse gas emissions and have different impacts on welfare and household budgets compared to policies without redistribution.

Development of a Machine learning assessment method for renewable energy investment decision making

Milad Izanloo et al.

Summary: The aim of this study is to develop a hybrid methodology using statistical approach and machine learning algorithm to structure investment decisions in the renewable energy industry. Six main criteria are used to classify and structure the decision-making algorithm, and machine learning algorithms are applied to classify countries based on the risk of renewable energy investment alternatives. The highest accuracy was achieved by Logistic regression, Support Vector Machine, Artificial Neural Network, and Decision Tree algorithms.

100% renewable wastewater treatment plants: Techno-economic assessment using a modelling and optimization approach

Pietro Elia Campana et al.

Summary: The research investigated the feasibility of designing high renewable share wastewater treatment plants by integrating photovoltaic systems, wind turbines, multi-energy storage technologies, and reverse osmosis tertiary treatment. The optimal system integration was found to achieve a renewable share of 70%, corresponding to the lowest net present cost. The developed model is flexible and can be applied to other relevant case studies, promoting a more sustainable wastewater treatment sector and enhancing local renewable energy conversion.
