Digital financial inclusion and carbon neutrality: Evidence from non-linear analysis

Chien -Chiang Lee et al.

Summary: This research analyzes the impact of digital financial inclusion on carbon neutrality and finds that it has a non-linear influence on carbon intensity and carbon sequestration. The marginal impact of digital financial inclusion on carbon intensity decreases first and then increases, while the marginal impact on carbon sequestration keeps decreasing. Digital financial inclusion promotes the reduction of carbon intensity by increasing per capita disposable income and digitization, and promotes the increase of carbon sequestration through green space and green technology.

How do financing constraints enhance pollutant emissions intensity at enterprises? Evidence from microscopic data at the enterprise level in China

Lan Yu et al.

Summary: This paper examines the mechanism in how financing constraints affect enterprise pollutant emissions. The results show that financing constraints significantly increase emissions intensity. Heterogeneity analyses indicate that the impact of financing constraints is relatively small for certain types of enterprises. Further investigation reveals that financing constraints mainly hinder technological progress and inhibit improvement in total factor productivity, leading to higher emissions intensity.

Digital transformation and financial performance: the moderating role of entrepreneurs' social capital

Huanyong Ji et al.

Summary: The research on the relationship between digital transformation and financial performance is inconclusive. Technological-based digital transformation and market-based digital transformation have heterogeneous impacts on financial performance, which are moderated by entrepreneurs' social capital. Technological social capital positively moderates the relationship between market-based digital transformation and financial performance, while business social capital positively moderates the impacts of both types of digital transformation on financial performance.

Analysis on operational efficiency and its influencing factors of China's nuclear power plants

Boqiang Lin et al.

Summary: This study examines the operational efficiency and influencing factors of Chinese nuclear power plants using a model constructed based on plant-level data. The results show that operational efficiencies of these plants have improved to varying degrees in the increasingly fierce market competition. Additionally, capacity utilization, average unit size, and unit capacity factor significantly promote the operational efficiencies of power plants, while plant size suppresses their efficiency. Plants with higher unit capacity factors are less adversely affected by plant size.

Summary: The study finds that there is significant room for improvement in the green sustainability efficiency of listed companies, with an average efficiency score of 0.461 and a potential improvement of about 53.9%. The sustainability efficiency of companies has shown a slow upward trend since 2017, with the non-daily consumer goods sector being the most efficient and utilities relatively inefficient. Inefficient companies were found to have significant input surplus, particularly in water consumption. Attention should be focused on water consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, and implicit factors affecting company sustainability efficiency include company size and debt-paying ability.
