The Prognostic and Clinicopathological Significance of Systemic Immune-Inflammation Index in Bladder Cancer

Jinze Li et al.

Summary: This pooled analysis found that an elevated preoperative SII is significantly associated with worse survival outcomes and adverse pathological features in patients with bladder cancer.

Clinicopathological features and current treatment outcomes of neuroendocrine thymic tumours

Wentao Fang et al.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed the clinicopathological features, diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes of 146 patients with neuroendocrine thymic tumors. The majority of patients had advanced disease, and complete resection was associated with better survival. Specific diagnostic tools and novel therapeutic agents are needed to improve the management outcomes of this disease.

Nomogram predict relapse-free survival of patients with thymic epithelial tumors after surgery

Yang-Yu Huang et al.

Summary: In this retrospective study involving 156 patients undergoing thymectomy, the combination of preoperative albumin levels, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), T stage, and WHO histologic types in a prognostic nomogram showed good prognostic ability with a C index of 0.902. The nomogram has the potential to predict relapse-free survival and identify high-risk patients early, representing a novel approach in this patient population.

Thymomectomy plus total thymectomy versus simple thymomectomy for early-stage thymoma without myasthenia gravis: a European Society of Thoracic Surgeons Thymic Working Group Study

Francesco Guerrera et al.

Summary: The study compared the short- and long-term outcomes of simple thymomectomy (ST) versus thymothymectomy (TT) in non-myasthenia gravis (MG) early-stage thymomas. The TT group had significantly better 5-year freedom from recurrence and 5-year overall survival rate compared to the ST group, without an increase in postoperative morbidity rate.

Summary: Systemic inflammation markers are associated with increased cancer risk and mortality. This study found associations between pre-diagnostic systemic inflammation markers and cancer risk, with SII showing the strongest impact on colorectal and lung cancer risk.

Prognostic value of inflammatory response biomarkers using peripheral blood and [18F]-FDG PET/CT in advanced NSCLC patients treated with first-line chemo- or immunotherapy

Romain-David Seban et al.

Summary: The study revealed that high dNLR, high SII, and high SLR were independent prognostic factors in NSCLC patients treated with immunotherapy, while high BLR and high dNLR were associated with shorter progression-free survival and overall survival in patients treated with chemotherapy. BLR showed moderate correlations with most blood-based inflammatory indices, while SLR was only associated with CRP levels.

Khalid El Bairi et al.

Summary: The umbrella systematic review assessed 17 meta-analyses on the association between biomarkers and epithelial ovarian cancer outcomes, showing that high NLR and PLR, as well as low LMR, are independent predictors of poor prognosis. Most studies were conducted by Chinese researchers, highlighting issues of low quality and lacking critical domains.
