Role of PD-L1 in licensing immunoregulatory function of dental pulp mesenchymal stem cells

Rosanna Di Tinco et al.

Summary: The study showed that DPSCs can regulate the inflammatory process by activating the PD-L1 pathway in response to inflammatory stimuli, reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines in pre-activated T lymphocytes. Their immunomodulatory/anti-inflammatory properties are closely related to their stemness status, highlighting the importance of communication with the inflammatory microenvironment.

Laminar flow substantially affects the morphology and functional phenotype of glomerular endothelial cells

Daan C. t Hart et al.

Summary: Shear stress induced by laminar flow significantly impacts the morphology and functional phenotype of glomerular endothelial cells, leading to cytoskeletal rearrangement, increased nitric oxide production, enhanced expression of Heparan Sulfate, and a quiescent phenotype characterized by decreased expression of pro-inflammatory genes and increased expression of anti-oxidant enzymes. Additionally, glomerular endothelial cells cultured under laminar flow show an enhanced inflammatory response when exposed to the stimulus TNF alpha, suggesting a different response to shear stress compared to macrovascular endothelium.

Diagnostic and prognostic potential of the proteomic profiling of serum-derived extracellular vesicles in prostate cancer

Michele Signore et al.

Summary: Extracellular vesicles (EVs) and their cargo are potential cancer biomarkers for liquid biopsy, and using antibody-based proteomic technology can help identify tumor-specific protein profiles in EVs. The analysis of EVs from prostate cancer patients' serum has shown promising results for tumor diagnosis and prognosis, indicating the potential of this innovative approach in translational medicine.
