Properties prediction of environmentally friendly ultra-high-performance concrete using artificial neural networks

Joaquin Abellan Garcia et al.

Summary: This research aims to build analytical models for predicting the compressive strengths and slump flow of ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC). Recycled glass powder, fluid catalytic cracking residue, and different particle size limestone powder were used as partial replacements for Portland cement and silica fume. Artificial neural network (ANN) models were utilized for prediction, which showed a certain level of prediction error values.

Compressive Strength Evaluation of Ultra-High-Strength Concrete by Machine Learning

Zhongjie Shen et al.

Summary: Ultra-high-strength concrete (UHSC) is an important building material in civil engineering. This study accurately estimated the compressive strength of UHSC using advanced soft computing techniques and evaluated the performance of different algorithms using statistical metrics. The results showed that the XGBoost soft computing technique had higher accuracy in predicting the compressive strength of UHSC.

Compressive Strength of Steel Fiber-Reinforced Concrete Employing Supervised Machine Learning Techniques

Yongjian Li et al.

Summary: Recent research focuses on developing new approaches, like supervised machine learning techniques, to compute materials' mechanical characteristics with less effort, time, and money. In predicting 28-day compressive strength of steel fiber-reinforced concrete, ensemble methods (SVR AdaBoost and SVR bagging) and an individual technique (SVR) were used, with SVR AdaBoost showing the best performance. Through R-2, statistical assessment, and k-fold cross validation tests, these methods were found to perform better in predicting outcomes.

Shear Strengthening of Corroded RC Beams Using UHPC-FRP Composites

Cheng Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, ultrahigh-performance concrete (UHPC) combined with fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites was utilized for shear strengthening of corroded reinforced concrete (RC) beams, leading to significant increases in shear capacity and suppression of shear crack formation. The introduction of thin carbon FRP (CFRP) meshes in UHPC decreased crack width in concrete without observing any debonding between FRP and UHPC.

Analysis of the Shear Capacity of Ultrahigh Performance Concrete Beams Based on the Modified Compression Field Theory

Wei Feng et al.

Summary: The shear capacity of prestressed ultrahigh performance concrete (UHPC) beams under bending and shearing was investigated using a modified compression field theory. Shear tests on UHPC-T beams with different shear-span ratios showed that the ratio greatly influenced the shear capacity and failure modes. The MCFT model accurately predicted the shear capacity, providing a powerful tool for design and analysis of UHPC-T beams.
