The impact of pain on quality of life in patients with osteoarthritis: a cross-sectional study from Palestine

Mojahed Shalhoub et al.

Summary: This study aims to assess the impact of pain on quality of life among patients with osteoarthritis and to examine the association of sociodemographic and clinical factors with health-related quality of life (HRQOL). The results show that both pain severity and interference are significantly negatively associated with HRQOL. Additionally, participants with higher educational level, less diseased joints, shorter duration of disease, and lower pain severity and interference scores had significantly higher HRQOL scores.

The incidence of pain and its association with quality of life in patients with peritoneal dialysis

Chunyan Yi et al.

Summary: This study investigated the incidence of pain in peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients and analyzed the correlation between pain and quality of life. The results showed that the main cause of pain was calcium and phosphorus metabolism disorder. Older age and higher intact parathyroid hormone level were independent risk factors for pain. Pain was independently associated with depressive symptoms, sleep quality, and quality of life in PD patients.

Exploring factors associated with pain in hemodialysis patients: a multicenter cross-sectional study from Palestine

Maha K. Marzouq et al.

Summary: Chronic pain is highly prevalent among hemodialysis (HD) patients in Palestine, with subpopulations of females, patients with higher BMI, and those with multiple comorbidities experiencing higher severity. Healthcare providers should routinely assess pain in HD patients and develop treatment plans to improve clinical outcomes. Nephrology associations should prioritize pain management in HD patients to reduce pain-related disability.

Pain in Hemodialysis Patients: Prevalence, Intensity, Location, and Functional Interference in Daily Activities

Patricia Roberta dos Santos et al.

Summary: The study found that chronic kidney disease patients undergoing hemodialysis commonly experience pain, with pain in the upper and lower limbs and trunk being most prevalent. There is a higher proportion of patients experiencing moderate to severe pain during hemodialysis, and this pain significantly interferes with patients' general activity, mobility, and disposition.
