Event History Regression with Pseudo-Observations: Computational Approaches and an Implementation in R

Michael C. Sachs et al.

Summary: This paper presents a user-friendly and easy-to-understand approach for event history regression estimation of the cumulative incidence and restricted mean survival using the pseudo-observation framework. By combining non-parametric estimation with parametric regression, it provides estimands that are easier to interpret causally and have desirable properties.

On restricted optimal treatment regime estimation for competing risks data

Jie Zhou et al.

Summary: This study proposes a restricted optimal treatment regime based on competing risks model and cumulative incidence functions, which is estimated using a penalized value search method and investigated through simulations. The method is applied to an HIV dataset to minimize the risk of treatment or virologic failures while controlling the risk of serious drug-induced side effects.

Optimal Individualized Decision Rules Using Instrumental Variable Methods

Hongxiang Qiu et al.

Summary: This study discusses the development of individualized decision rules in settings where some confounders may not have been measured but a valid binary instrument is available for a binary treatment. It focuses on individualized treatment rules, especially in settings where direct intervention on treatment is feasible, and also considers a scenario where intervening on treatment is not feasible but encouraging treatment is possible. Optimal interventions prioritize individuals who will benefit most from treatment, especially when treatment is a limited resource.
