Recent developments in peptidomics for the quali-quantitative analysis of food-derived peptides in human body fluids and tissues

Simonetta Caira et al.

Summary: This study aims to provide a comprehensive overview of bioactive food-derived peptides identified in various body fluids and tissues, and to describe their absorption mechanisms and metabolic processes. Available information suggests that while these peptides are present in organism tissues/body fluids, only a few of them have demonstrated substantial bioavailability and potential bioactivity.

Digestion of micellar casein in duodenum cannulated pigs. Correlation between in vitro simulated gastric digestion and in vivo data

B. Miralles et al.

Summary: Correlation and validation between simulated and in vivo gastrointestinal digestion of food compounds is crucial. This study monitored the digestion of milk micellar casein in the porcine upper intestinal tract and found clear similarities between in vitro and in vivo generated peptide profiles, with the in vitro digestion model providing a similar peptide profile to that found in the porcine duodenum.

Postprandial blood amino acid concentrations in older adults after consumption of dairy products: The role of the dairy matrix

Astrid M. H. Horstman et al.

Summary: This study investigated postprandial aminoacidemia after consumption of different dairy products, finding that the product matrix may be as important as protein composition in postprandial aminoacidemia, and fat delayed the postprandial essential amino acid blood response.
