A Modern Approach to Dyslipidemia

Amanda J. Berberich et al.

Summary: Lipid disorders are common in clinical practice and have implications for cardiovascular risk and overall health. Recent advances have led to updated approaches, including new classification schemes and diagnostic methods based on routine lipid panels. The development of new drugs provides additional management options for lipid disorders.

The effects of the interaction between BMI and dyslipidemia on hypertension in adults

Na Tang et al.

Summary: Body mass index (BMI) and dyslipidemia are risk factors for hypertension, with overweight, obesity, and dyslipidemia increasing the risk. Overweight and obesity have a significant interaction effect with dyslipidemia on the risk of hypertension.

Trans fatty acid intake increases likelihood of dyslipidemia especially among individuals with higher saturated fat consumption

Emmanuella Magriplis et al.

Summary: The study suggests that high intake of TFA combined with high SFA intake increases the risk of dyslipidemia, which should be considered and monitored in public health prevention programs.

Prevalence and factors associated with dyslipidemia among adolescents in Saudi Arabia

Shadan AlMuhaidib et al.

Summary: A high prevalence of dyslipidemia among Saudi adolescents was found, with significant regional variation. Gender, body mass index, and serum ferritin levels were found to be independently associated with dyslipidemia. Public health interventions are urgently needed to improve the lipid profile of adolescents.

LDL/apo B ratio predict coronary heart disease in Type 2 diabetes independent of ASCVD risk score: A case-cohort study

Soghra Rabizadeh et al.

Summary: LDL-C/ApoB ratio is associated with the prediction of coronary heart disease in patients with T2D, while AIP index does not predict CHD. In patients with T2D, LDL-C/ApoB ratio serves as an indicator of CHD independent of the ASCVD risk score.

Combined Associations of Serum Ferritin and Body Size Phenotypes With Cardiovascular Risk Profiles: A Chinese Population-Based Study

Bowen Zhou et al.

Summary: This study investigated the associations between serum ferritin (SF) and cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors among individuals with different body size phenotypes. The results showed that high SF levels were associated with an increased risk of diabetes, dyslipidemia, and hyperuricemia in certain phenotype groups, particularly in metabolically at-risk overweight/obesity (MAO) individuals. It was also found that individuals in the MAO group with high SF exhibited worse CVD risk profiles compared to those without high SF.

Global epidemiology of dyslipidaemias

Angela Pirillo et al.

Summary: Dyslipidaemias are alterations to the plasma lipid profile associated with clinical conditions, with high cholesterol being the most common form and a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Treating lipid abnormalities may reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease in patients with diabetes.

Association of dyslipidemia, diabetes and metabolic syndrome with serum ferritin levels: a middle eastern population-based cross-sectional study

Neyla S. Al Akl et al.

Summary: The study found a significant association between elevated serum ferritin levels and metabolic disorders such as dyslipidemia, diabetes, insulin resistance, and metabolic syndrome. These associations were more pronounced in women, with a greater impact on dyslipidemia, diabetes, and insulin resistance. Elevated serum ferritin levels were identified as a potential risk biomarker for these metabolic abnormalities in Qatari adults.
