Bendable and Twistable Crystals of Flufenamic Acid Form III with Bending Mechanofluorochromism Behavior

Yu Liu et al.

Summary: Mechanical flexible organic crystals with optical properties have attracted research interest. A plastic organic crystal, flufenamic acid (FFA) form III crystal, was found to exhibit highly plastic bending and hand-twistable behavior, as well as unique bending mechanofluorochromism behavior. This has implications for the design of future tunable fluorescent materials.

Monitoring Polymorphic Phase Transitions in Flufenamic Acid Amorphous Solid Dispersions Using Hyphenated X-ray Diffraction-Differential Scanning Calorimetry

Yuying Pang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the crystallization and polymorphic phase transitions of FFA-polymer amorphous solid dispersions using synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction and differential scanning calorimetry. The results show that polymers can stabilize the crystalline form of FFA by inhibiting the transition process. Increasing the polymer content further inhibits polymorphic transitions.

Nuclear Overhauser spectroscopy in hyperpolarized water - chemical vs. magnetic exchange

Ludovica Martina Epasto et al.

Summary: Dissolution dynamic nuclear polarization (dDNP) is a versatile hyperpolarization technique to enhance signal intensities in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. By dissolving biomolecules in hyperpolarized aqueous buffer under mild conditions, the scope of NMR has been expanded. However, the water-to-target hyperpolarization transfer mechanisms are still unclear, and the limited structural information is obtained due to the restricted data acquisition.

Summary: The study tested the ability of the CHARMM Drude polarizable force field to reproduce the conformational substates of amino acids, and improved the agreement with quantum-mechanical energy surfaces through reparameterization. The corrected force field showed similar average reorganization energies compared to the AM1 and PM3 semi-empirical methods.

Roman D. Oparin et al.

Summary: This study investigated the high-temperature polymorphic conversion of carbamazepine (CBZ) in a high-density supercritical CO2 medium, revealing that the scCO(2) phase contains only one CBZ conformer when in equilibrium with CBZ melt - SCF solution. It was proven that pure CBZ polymorph I can be obtained through crystallization from CBZ solution in scCO(2).

Spatial structure and conformations of hydrazones derived from pyridoxal 5′-phosphate and 2-, 3-pyridinecarbohydrazide in the light of NMR study and quantum chemical calculations

I. A. Khodov et al.

Summary: The coordination properties and biological activity of compounds depend significantly on their conformational adaptability, affecting their ability to form complexes or bind to target biomolecules. The conformational behavior of two hydrazones derived from pyridoxal 5'-phosphate and 2-,3-pyridinecarbohydrazide was studied using quantum chemistry and NMR techniques. The study analyzed four possible rotations leading to different rotamers and estimated ground state energies, rotation barriers, and structural peculiarities of different species.

Rahul Kumar et al.

Summary: In this study, liquid antisolvent method was employed for particle size reduction of Flufenamic acid (FFA), with higher values of concentration, injection rate, stirring speed, and lower temperature favoring fine particle formation. Solid dispersion of FFA with polyvinylpyrrolidone K-30 (PVP K-30) showed presence of hydrogen bonding between FFA and PVP, and XRD analysis indicated no significant change in crystallinity of processed FFA.
