Removal of Congo red dyes from aqueous solutions by porous γ-alumina nanoshells

Summary: The highly porous g-Al2O3 nanoshells synthesized from alumina coated carbon black demonstrated excellent adsorption capacity for the removal of Congo Red dye from aqueous solutions. The adsorption equilibrium could be reached within 30 minutes, with a high removal efficiency of 98.6% achieved at pH 4.0. The adsorption capacity of the Al2O3 nanoshells was significantly higher than that of alumina/CB, showing superior performance in dye removal.

Preparation of SiO2@Ag@SiO2@TiO2 Core-shell Structure and Its Photocatalytic Degradation Property

Summary: In this study, a multi-layer core-shell structure of SiO2@Ag@SiO2@TiO2 was synthesized as a photocatalyst for the degradation of dye pollutants. The optimal coating effect was achieved by using a mass ratio of AgNO3, TEOS, and TBOT to SiO2 at 5:2.4:6:1, and the core-shell structure showed the best photocatalytic activity. The degradation efficiency of the SiO2@Ag@SiO2@TiO2 photocatalyst was close to 93% after 45 minutes of simulated visible light irradiation, and it maintained a degradation efficiency of 90% after 4 cycles of recycling tests. This research has significant importance for water pollution control.

The surfactant-ionic liquid bi-functionalization of chitosan beads for their adsorption performance improvement toward Tartrazine

Summary: In this study, bi-functionalized chitosan beads were successfully prepared and used for the efficient removal of anionic food dye from polluted water. The experimental data showed high adsorption efficiency, fitting well with the pseudo-first-order kinetic model and the Langmuir isotherm model under optimal conditions. The conjugation of chitosan beads with surfactant and ionic liquid introduced a new type of adsorbents for wastewater treatment.

Efficient degradation of orange II by core shell CoFe2O4-CeO2 nanocomposite with the synergistic effect from sodium persulfate

Summary: A novel core-shell CoFe2O4-CeO2 nanocomposite was successfully synthesized and investigated as an efficient photocatalyst to activate sodium persulfate for orange II degradation. The nanocomposite exhibited significantly improved photocatalytic efficiency compared to pure CoFe2O4 and CeO2. It could efficiently degrade orange II under visible light irradiation, and the material could be recycled multiple times due to its magnetic separation ability.

Substantial improvement in the adsorption behavior of montmorillonite toward Tartrazine through hexadecylamine impregnation

Summary: In this study, the surface of montmorillonite K10 was successfully modified to Mt-HDA, resulting in improved removal efficiency of Tartrazine (TZ) from aqueous phase. The experimental results showed that HDA modification significantly enhanced the adsorption ability of montmorillonite towards TZ molecules, with fast adsorption process and maximum adsorption capacity of 59mg/g at 45 degrees C.

Exploring the potential of highly efficient graphite/chitosan-PVC composite electrodes in the electrochemical degradation of Reactive Red 4

Summary: The study demonstrated that C/Chi-PVC composite electrodes showed high efficiency and stability in degrading RR4, achieving high removal rates of color, total organic carbon (TOC), and chemical oxygen demand (COD) under optimal electrolysis parameters. The treated RR4 solution exhibited low toxicity after 14 days of exposure in the water sample.

Efficient eradication of antibiotic and dye by C-dots@zeolite nanocomposites: Performance evaluation, and degraded products analysis

Summary: This study synthesized Cdots@zeolite (CDZ) nanocomposites for the photocatalytic degradation of Metronidazole (MET) and Rhodamine B (RhB). The CDZ composites exhibited high catalytic activity under different light sources, achieving maximum degradation efficiencies of 79% for MET and 90% for RhB. The CDZ composites also demonstrated effective removal of COD and TOC in real industrial wastewater samples. GC-MS analysis further identified the intermediates of plausible degradation pathways.

Degradation of dyes by UV/Persulfate and comparison with other UV-based advanced oxidation processes: Kinetics and role of radicals

The pH of the solution and the presence of water matrices had an impact on the degradation efficiency. Synergistic photocatalysis-fenton reaction of flower-shaped CeO2/Fe3O4 magnetic catalyst for decolorization of high concentration congo red dye

Summary: In this study, magnetically recoverable CeO2/Fe3O4 nanocomposites were synthesized as photocatalysts via a hydrothermal method. The composition, morphology, and physicochemical properties of the materials were characterized. The results showed that the mesoporous CeO2/Fe3O4 composite material exhibited excellent adsorption capacity and photocatalytic performance, leading to efficient degradation of pollutants. Furthermore, the catalyst could be easily recovered and reused by using an external magnet.

Heterointerface engineering of water stable ZIF-8@ZIF-67: Adsorption of rhodamine B from water

Summary: In this study, a novel bimetallic zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) have been fabricated for the elimination of toxic dye from water. The synthesized ZIF-8@ZIF-67 showed improved physical and chemical properties compared to single metallic MOFs (ZIF-67 and ZIF-8). Langmuir model was found to sufficiently explain the adsorption process of ZIF-8@ZIF-67, and the mean free energy suggested chemisorption dominates the adsorption. The high applicability and reusability of the bimetallic MOFs were demonstrated through the removal of rhodamine B from water.

Synthesis of nanoadsorbent entailed mesoporous organosilica for decontamination of methylene blue and methyl orange from water

Summary: The study presented the synthesis of template-supported nanoadsorbents consisting of mesoporous organosilica (MPOS) to remove methylene blue (MB) and methyl orange (MO) from water effectively. This eco-friendly approach and efficient removal of pollutants make MPOS a competent nanoadsorbent for water decontamination.
