2D/2D nanohybrid of Ti3C2 MXene/WO3 photocatalytic membranes for efficient water purification

Xin Pang et al.

Summary: The Ti3C2/WO3/PVDF photocatalytic membrane, prepared by dispersing WO3 nanoplates on the surface of Ti3C2 MXene, demonstrates efficient water purification and good photostability. The outstanding performance of the photocatalytic membrane is attributed to the electrical conductivity of Ti3C2, the formation of built-in electric field, and the large interface contact area between Ti3C2 and WO3.

Adsorption Study of Congo Red Dye from Synthetic Wastewater at Different Concentrations Using Zinc Sulfide Nanoparticles

Mohamed Rashad et al.

Summary: Zinc sulfide (ZnS) nanoparticles were synthesized using the chemical precipitation method. The structural parameters of the ZnS were investigated using X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. The synthesized ZnS nanoparticles showed promising adsorption efficiency for Congo red (CR) dye, and the intraparticle diffusion kinetic model was found to be the best fit among the tested models.

A Comprehensive Photocatalysis Study of Promising Zirconia/Laser-Induced Graphene Nanocomposite for Wastewater Treatment-Based Methylene Blue Pollution

Nagih M. Shaalan et al.

Summary: In this paper, the photocatalytic effect of zirconia/laser-induced graphene on the degradation of methylene blue was comprehensively studied. The newly fabricated ZrO2-graphene nanocomposites showed enhanced photocatalytic effects and the addition of graphene significantly improved the degradation process. These findings have important implications for wastewater treatment.

Growth of Defect-Induced Carbon Nanotubes for Low-Temperature Fruit Monitoring Sensor

Nagih M. Shaalan et al.

Summary: A carbon nanotubes-based sensor was developed for detecting ethylene, showing a strong response to the gas with a smooth surface. The sensor exhibited high response at a low operating temperature of 30 degrees C and varied response time constants depending on gas concentration. Results from testing synthetic ethylene gas were compared with real measurements for banana ripening, confirming the sensor's effectiveness in monitoring fruit ripening.

A photocatalyst: Zinc sulfides nanospheres immobilized on activated carbon for the abatement of aquatic organic pollutants

K. S. Bhavsar et al.

Summary: In this study, a visible light responsive ZnS nanospheres immobilized on activated carbon photocatalyst was prepared, showing excellent performance in adsorption and photocatalytic degradation of the model organic pollutant Congo red. Radical scavenger study revealed that hydroxyl radicals are the main contributors for the photocatalytic degradation of Congo red with the AC-ZnS nanocomposite.

Composition tuning in copper - oxide decorated reduced graphene oxide yields efficient photo- and reduction catalysts

Revathi Kottappara et al.

Summary: A direct low-cost chemical reduction method is presented for the synthesis of the ternary Cu-Cu2O-CuO system, where the presence of graphene oxide helps limit the conversion of copper to copper oxide. The composition of the ternary system can be altered by adjusting the amount of copper precursor used, as confirmed by X-ray diffraction studies and XPS analysis of the synthesized nanocomposites. The enhanced catalytic efficiency of the composite nanostructures towards visible light photodegradation and hydride reduction reactions is attributed to the interaction between graphene sheets and copper, as well as the unique ternary composition of Cu2O-Cu-CuO.

Steering the behavior of photogenerated carriers in semiconductor photocatalysts: a new insight and perspective

Fang Li et al.

Summary: The current semiconductor photocatalysts have unsatisfactory efficiency due to easy recombination of photogenerated carriers. Regulating separation and transfer of carriers and reducing recombination is crucial for improving efficiency. Strategies like heterojunction design and exciton regulation can help in reducing carrier recombination and improving catalytic efficiency.
