Soumya Sikdar et al.

Summary: In recent years, research has shown that incorporating nanomaterials such as graphene nanoplatelet and hexagonal boron nitride in canola oil can significantly improve its tribological performance. By combining these nanoparticles in different ratios, positive synergies were observed in reducing friction and wear compared to traditional base oil. The formation of composite films and polishing mechanisms played a crucial role in enhancing the overall performance of the lubricant mixture.

A novel current-carrying lubrication in electric hot incremental forming of Ti-6Al-4V titanium sheet

Zhengfang Li et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of a novel lubricant, WS2-oil mixture, on the surface defect of electric hot incremental forming. It finds that the graininess of WS2 has a more significant impact on lubrication compared to its concentration. Additionally, it discovers the importance of high-temperature adhesive wear and abrasive flow polishing in improving the surface smoothness of forming parts.

Numerical and Experimental Analysis of Titanium Sheet Forming for Medical Instrument Parts

Wojciech Wieckowski et al.

Summary: This paper analyzes the forming process of surgical instrument handles made of Grade 2 titanium sheets. Sheet metal forming technology ensures high strength and lightweight products. Replacing stainless steels with titanium reduces instrument weight and provides resistance to corrosive environments in surgeries. Numerical analysis and experimental verification were conducted to adapt the technological process to forming tool handles using titanium sheets. It was found that applying a blank holder in the first forming operation eliminates sheet wrinkling in the flange area. The shape and dimensional accuracy of the drawn part after trimming were sufficient, eliminating the need for the fourth forming operation. Lubricating with rapeseed oil and boric acid prevents galling of titanium and ensures uniform plastic strain distribution in the drawn part.

Summary: One of the global problems today is energy production and distribution. As the human population grows, energy consumption also increases. The use of effective lubricants and tribological fluids in industry can reduce energy consumption. The application of polymers in forming technology is an important challenge, but it should meet European standards and environmental limitations.

Investigation of Surface Roughness in Incremental Sheet Forming of Conical Drawpieces from Pure Titanium Sheets

Tomasz Trzepiecinski et al.

Summary: The article presents the results of an analysis on the influence of incremental sheet forming process parameters on surface roughness of conical drawpieces made from pure titanium Grade 2 sheets. The study considered the variation of feed rate, spindle speed, and incremental step size as well as the direction of tool rotation. Analysis of variance and artificial neural networks were used to evaluate the sensitivity of the process parameters on surface roughness. The findings indicate that the roughness of the inner surface is independent of the roughness of the outer side, and the outer surface has a more uniform morphology with a greater profile height.

Constitutive modeling of commercial pure titanium sheet based on non-associated flow rule and differential hardening

Jinjae Kim et al.

Summary: The commercial-pure titanium (CP-Ti) sheet is highly regarded in biomedical and aerospace industries for its lightweight, high strength, good formability, and corrosion resistance. This study developed a material model considering the differential hardening behavior and changing R-value of CP-Ti sheet, and used it to simulate a deep drawing process. The comparison results showed that the developed material model accurately predicted the mechanical behavior in forming simulations.

Summary: The experiment explores the possibility of stable oil foams produced from vegetable oils containing long-chain triglycerides and fat crystals. It demonstrates that oleogels can be aerated to create oil foams stabilized by fat crystals, resulting in non-draining, non-coarsening, and non-coalescing oil foams. The stability of the oil foams decreases upon heating near the melting point of the crystals.
