Characterization of various acrylate based artificial teeth for denture fabrication

Nawshad Muhammad et al.

Summary: This study investigated the properties of various commercially available PMMA-based artificial teeth, including chemical analysis, morphology, thermal analysis, and mechanical properties. Different types of artificial teeth showed distinct mechanical and thermal properties, which may be attributed to the differences in PMMA content and fillers.

Mechanical Properties, Cytotoxicity, and Fluoride Ion Release Capacity of Bioactive Glass-Modified Methacrylate Resin Used in Three-Dimensional Printing Technology

Zbigniew Raszewski et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the mechanical properties, cytotoxicity, and fluoride ion release capacity of 3D-printed dental resins modified with bioactive glass. The modified resins showed desirable bioactive properties and the potential ability to release fluoride ions in the oral cavity environment. However, there was a mild decrease in physical properties and mild cytotoxicity with direct contact with human cells.

Denture Acrylic Resin Material with Antibacterial and Protein-Repelling Properties for the Prevention of Denture Stomatitis

Salwa Omar Bajunaid et al.

Summary: This study investigated the incorporation of MPC and DMAHDM into a denture base material for the treatment of denture stomatitis. The results demonstrated that the dual incorporation of MPC and DMAHDM significantly reduced the adherence of C. albicans and could potentially reduce the prevalence of denture stomatitis. However, the addition of these bioactive agents reduced the flexural strength of the material and had some impact on surface roughness.

Reinforcing Poly(methyl methacrylate) with Bacterial Cellulose Nanofibers Chemically Modified with Methacryolyl Groups

Hiroyuki Kono et al.

Summary: In this study, nanofibrillated bacterial cellulose (NFBC) was successfully used as a nanofiller to improve the mechanical properties of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) while maintaining its high transparency, through chemical surface modification. The addition of only 0.10 wt% of NFBC increased the tensile strength and Young's modulus of the composite by factors of 1.6 and 1.8, respectively, without sacrificing the maximum elongation rate. Interaction involving the organic functional groups of the surface-modified NFBC was found to be crucial for reinforcing PMMA.

Comparative Evaluation of Compressive Bond Strength between Acrylic Denture Base and Teeth with Various Combinations of Mechanical and Chemical Treatments

Mohammed E. Sayed et al.

Summary: This study assessed the impact of various surface treatments on the bond strength between denture teeth and acrylic denture base resin. The results identified the optimal method for bonding and highlighted the differences in effectiveness between different treatments. The findings provide guidance for manufacturing companies to enhance bond strength in artificial teeth while maintaining aesthetics.

The Impact of Contaminating Poly (Methyl Methacrylate) (PMMA) Bone Cements on Their Compressive Strength

Jakub Szabelski et al.

Summary: This study analyzes the impact of doping bone cement with saline, finding that the static compressive strength parameters of the cement may greatly improve or significantly worsen depending on the degree of saline doping. A limit value of 2% saline admixture was estimated, beyond which there were no statistically significant differences observed in cement strength.
