Optical and Structural Properties of Composites Based on Poly(urethane) and TiO2 Nanowires

Malvina Stroe et al.

Summary: This article aims to synthesize new composites based on thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and TiO2 nanowires (NWs) as free-standing films, and highlight their structural and optical properties. The free-standing TPU-TiO2 NW films were prepared using a wet chemical method and thermal treatment. X-ray diffraction (XRD) studies showed changes in the diffracted peaks intensity, indicating interaction between TiO2 NWs and TPU. It was also found that the hydrogen bonds between TPU and TiO2 NWs increased, and there were changes in the absorbance ratio and Raman line intensity ratio.

Composition-Optimized Cu-Zn-(Mn, Fe, Si) Alloy and Its Microstructural Evolution with Thermomechanical Treatments

Peipei Gou et al.

Summary: The study aims to improve the high strength and large ductility of existing Mn-containing brass alloys through optimizing alloy composition and thermomechanical treatments, achieving an optimal combination of strength and ductility for slipper materials. The alloy matrix consists of FCC-alpha phase, BCC-beta phase, and M5Si3 phase, with varied mechanical properties depending on thermomechanical treatments. The strengthening effect was discussed in terms of various mechanisms, showing good consistency between calculated strength increment and experimentally measured yield strength.

A Novel Synthesized 1D Nanobelt-like Cobalt Phosphate Electrode Material for Excellent Supercapacitor Applications

S. K. Shinde et al.

Summary: In this study, highly porous one-dimensional nanobelt-like cobalt phosphate materials were synthesized for supercapacitor applications. The synthesized Co2P2O7 exhibited excellent physicochemical and electrochemical properties, with the nanobelt-like nanostructures providing improved ion transfer and cycling stability. The Co2P2O7 electrode deposited at 150 degrees C demonstrated the highest specific capacitance and an asymmetric hybrid Co2P2O7//AC supercapacitor device showed high energy and power density. Overall, the one-dimensional nanobelt-like Co2P2O7 material is a promising option for electrochemical energy storage.

Controlled physical properties and growth mechanism of manganese silicide nanorods

Najwa Binti Hamzan et al.

Summary: In this study, manganese silicide (Mn5Si3) nanorods grown on c-Si/SiO2 substrate by chemical vapor deposition were investigated, revealing successful growth above 750 degrees C. The growth of Mn5Si3 nanorods was influenced by the vapor pressure of the Mn precursor. Additionally, the magnetic properties of the nanorods were found to be mainly ferromagnetic, with higher saturation magnetization values and coercivity observed at a reaction temperature of 950 degrees C.

Growth mechanism of primary Ti5Si3 phases in special brasses and their effect on wear resistance

Xianlong Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, in-situ Ti5Si3 reinforced special brasses were prepared, and the morphological evolution and growth mechanism of Ti5Si3 were investigated. It was found that the wear resistance of brasses increases with the increasing volume fraction of Ti5Si3, and the wear mechanism changes accordingly. The friction coefficient shows an abnormal increase when Ti5Si3 containing hollows appear in the brass, leading to easier breakage and falling off during sliding.

Structural and Electrical Characterization of Pure and Al-Doped ZnO Nanorods

Ivana Panzic et al.

Summary: Pure and Al-doped ZnO nanorods were prepared using a two-step method, showing a minute change in morphology upon doping. Al doping significantly increased the conductivity of ZnO nanorods, with different electric conduction mechanisms observed at higher voltages. Consideration of the geometry change of Al-doped ZnO nanorods is important for their overall electric transport properties in future applications.

Role of Anisotropy, Frequency, and Interactions in Magnetic Hyperthermia Applications: Noninteracting Nanoparticles and Linear Chain Arrangements

Daniela Paola Valdes et al.

Summary: Research efforts have shed light on the power absorption of single-domain magnetic nanoparticles in magnetic-fluid-hyperthermia applications, with theoretical models now accounting for main experimental observations. The influence of particle-intrinsic parameters and experimental conditions on power absorption has been evaluated using a nonlinear model for magnetic relaxation. The enclosed hysteresis area of magnetization loops reveals distinct magnetic responses dependent on particle size, field frequency, and interactions.

CsPbI3 nanorods as the interfacial layer for high-performance, all-solution-processed self-powered photodetectors

Muhammad Imran Saleem et al.

Summary: This paper presents the synthesis of CsPbI3 nanorods (NRs) as the interfacial layer in high-performance, all-solution-processed self-powered photodetectors, achieving enhanced responsivity and stability for up to four weeks. The improved performance can be attributed to the mismatch bandgap between PbS-TBAI and CsPbI3 interfaces, providing efficient transport passages for charge carriers.
