DIVERSITY AND BIOLOGY OF CANCER-ASSOCIATED FIBROBLASTS

Giulia Biffi et al.

Summary: Efforts to develop anti-cancer therapies have mainly targeted the epithelial compartment, but recent studies have shown the significant influence of cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) in tumor progression. CAFs not only promote cancer cell proliferation, therapy resistance, and immune exclusion, but may also restrain tumor progression in certain contexts. Research on CAFs has focused on their heterogeneity, plasticity, and functions across different cancer types and states, as well as advancements in therapeutic strategies targeting CAFs currently undergoing preclinical and clinical evaluation.

Mechanisms of Therapeutic Antitumor Monoclonal Antibodies

Li-Chung Tsao et al.

Summary: Monoclonal antibodies are a crucial component of cancer therapy, primarily working by stimulating innate immune effector processes. Different therapeutic mAbs targeting various tumor antigens have shown significant efficacy, with a key role of innate immune-mediated mechanisms observed in mAb therapies against different types of cancer, including HER2(+) solid tumors.

Atractylenolide I enhances responsiveness to immune checkpoint blockade therapy by activating tumor antigen presentation

Hanchen Xu et al.

Summary: The compound atractylenolide I (ATT-I) has been found to enhance tumor antigen presentation and boost the cytotoxic response of CD8(+) T cells by targeting the function of the immunoproteasome, ultimately improving the tumor response to immunotherapy.
