First measurements of remoTES cryogenic calorimeters: Easy-to-fabricate particle detectors for a wide choice of target materials

G. Angloher et al.

Summary: Low-temperature calorimeters based on Transition Edge Sensors (TESs) are suitable for rare event searches. The novel design of the thermometer coupling, called remoTES, extends the applicability of the TES technology to a wider range of potential absorber materials, including hygroscopic and low melting point materials. Experimental results show that remoTES calorimeters achieve high energy resolution for both silicon and alpha-TeO2 absorbers. The simplified production process and higher reproducibility make remoTES calorimeters more desirable for large detector arrays.

SDDs for high-rate and high-resolution electron spectroscopy

A. Nava et al.

Summary: Silicon Drift Detectors (SDDs) are a promising technology for electron spectroscopy due to their excellent energy resolution and high interaction rate capability. We propose a model based on a Geant4 simulation to study electron response. We explore the potential of using SDD as a versatile and compact beta spectrometer that can be operated with standard technologies.

Search for low-mass dark matter WIMPs with 12 ton-day exposure of DarkSide-50

P. Agnes et al.

Summary: In this study, the DarkSide-50 experiment at Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso analyzed the complete dataset acquired with a low-radioactivity argon target to search for weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs) in the mass range below 10 GeV/c². The new analysis improved the calibration of the detector response, background model, and determination of systematic uncertainties, allowing for a more accurate modeling of background rate and spectra down to 0.06 keVr. By setting a 90% C.L. exclusion limit for the spin-independent cross section of WIMPs with a mass of 3 GeV/c² on nucleons at 6 x 10-43 cm², this study extends the exclusion region for spin-independent dark matter interactions below the current experimental constraints in the [1.2, 3.6] GeV/c² WIMP mass range.

Determining gA/gV with High-Resolution Spectral Measurements Using a LiInSe2 Bolometer

A. F. Leder et al.

Summary: This Letter presents measurements of the spectral shape of the fourfold forbidden fi decay of 115In using a high-resolution LiInSe2 bolometer. The quenching of the axial vector coupling constant (gA/gV) is found to be greater than 5a with a model-dependent quenching factor of 0.655 +/- 0.002. The half-life of 115In was also measured to be [5.18 +/- 0.06(stat) thorn 0.005 -0.015 (sys)] x 1014 yr within the interacting shell model framework. The study demonstrates the capability of the bolometric technique in precision nuclear physics measurements of single-fi decay.

O. Azzolini et al.

Summary: CUPID-0, a scintillating bolometers' technology demonstrator, was used to study the limits of neutrinoless double beta decay. Through a detector upgrade, the study successfully set limits on the half-life of 82Se and the neutrinoless decays of 82Se to different excited states of 82Kr.

Final results on the 0νββ decay half-life limit of 100Mo from the CUPID-Mo experiment

C. Augier et al.

Summary: The CUPID-Mo experiment, a search for Mo-100 0νββ decay, has been completed in France after 1.5 years of operation. It served as a demonstration for the CUPID experiment and used 20 scintillating calorimeters with a mass of 0.2 kg each. The final analysis showed no events in the region of interest and set a new limit on the Mo-100 0νββ decay half-life.

Pulse shape discrimination in CUPID-Mo using principal component analysis

R. Huang et al.

Summary: CUPID-Mo is a cryogenic detector array designed to search for neutrinoless double-beta decay of Mo-100. By actively suppressing alpha backgrounds, the array reduces expected background, but pileup events and detector instabilities may become significant backgrounds. A data-driven principal component analysis approach can effectively filter out these anomalous events without relying on detector response simulations.

Low Temperature Microcalorimeters for Decay Energy Spectroscopy

Katrina E. Koehler

Summary: Low temperature detectors have been used for measuring embedded radioisotopes through Decay Energy Spectroscopy since 1992, with applications ranging from neutrino mass measurements to safeguards and medical nuclides. While they have high intrinsic energy resolution, the achieved resolution in practice depends on factors like sample preparation. This review aims to present the consensus in literature on improving energy resolution through different choices of detector, absorber, and sample preparation methods.

Second-forbidden nonunique β- decays of 59,60Fe:possible candidates for gA sensitive electron spectral-shape measurements

Anil Kumar et al.

Summary: This theoretical study using the nuclear shell model successfully predicts the low-energy spectra and electromagnetic properties of certain nuclei, paving the way for computations of beta-decay properties. By computing electron spectral shapes and extracting the effective value of the weak axial coupling gA, this study presents a new method for determining gA values through the spectrum-shape method (SSM), with the potential for future measurements of spectral shapes.

Confirmation of gA quenching using the revised spectrum-shape method for the analysis of the 113Cd β-decay as measured with the COBRA demonstrator

Joel Kostensalo et al.

Summary: This study presents an updated spectrum-shape analysis of the Cd-113 fourfold forbidden beta-decay transition to investigate the quenching of the weak axial-vector coupling g(A) in low-momentum exchange nuclear processes. By tuning the nuclear structure calculations and leveraging the interplay of g(A) and the s-NME, reproducible Cd-113 half-life values were obtained for three different nuclear models. The analysis revealed significantly quenched values of the axial vector coupling and resolved a main shortcoming of the spectrum-shape method, providing insights into the existence of a quenching of g(A) in low-momentum exchange nuclear processes.
