Prospective Non-Randomized Study of Intraoperative Assessment of Surgical Resection Margin of Colo-Rectal Liver Metastases

Summary: In this study, the agreement between surgeons and pathologists in assessing the resection margins of colorectal liver metastases was evaluated. The results showed that there was no statistically significant difference between assessments per liver specimen, but there was a significant difference when analyzed on a per patient basis. The study concluded that surgeon's assessment of resection margins had better prognostic impact on recurrence rate and disease-free survival compared to standard histopathological assessment.
