Comparative Evaluation of Light-Driven Catalysis: A Framework for Standardized Reporting of Data

Dirk Ziegenbalg et al.

Summary: Light-driven homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis involve complex interactions of multiple factors, making it challenging to compare and evaluate their performance objectively. This perspective emphasizes the importance of collecting and reporting experimental data, and provides a critical analysis of commonly used indicators. The authors propose a minimum dataset as a basis for unified collection and reporting of experimental data in light-driven catalysis.

Progress, Advantages, and Challenges of Topological Material Catalysts

Ruikuan Xie et al.

Summary: Topological materials with exotic properties such as stable boundary states and spin-momentum-locking helicity have potential applications in catalytic reactions. Recent discoveries of high-performance catalysts among topological materials have opened up a new research field. Combining theoretical and experimental studies is necessary to understand the mechanisms behind the high performance of topological material catalysts (TMCs). In addition, heterostructures, dopants, and defects can be used to tune the catalytic activity of TMCs while retaining topological surface states.

Layered van der Waals Topological Metals of TaTMTe4 (TM = Ir, Rh, Ru) Family

G. Shipunov et al.

Summary: The growth and characterization of TaTMTe4 family materials were reported, showing interesting electronic properties. Superconductivity was observed in TaIr1-xRhxTe4 compounds for x = 0.92, while TaIr1-xRhxTe4 with x ≈ 0.78 exhibited signs of Dirac cones in the vicinity of the Fermi energy. The MR in TaRhTe4 series was almost isotropic.

Stable and efficient seawater splitting on a porous phosphate-intercalated NiFe (oxy)hydroxide@NiMoO4 core-shell micropillar electrode

Chen Yang et al.

Summary: The porous electrode P-NiFe@NiMoO4 is synthesized through an electrochemical oxidation strategy to address the issues of chlorine evolution reaction and chloride corrosion in seawater splitting. The optimized electrocatalysts afford a low overpotential and the electrolyzer presents a low voltage with excellent stability in alkaline seawater. The remarkable stability of the anode is attributed to the in-situ formation of phosphate during the electrochemical oxidation process to passivate chloride corrosion.
