On-demand directional microwave photon emission using waveguide quantum electrodynamics

Bharath Kannan et al.

Summary: Routing quantum information between non-local computational nodes is essential for scalable networks of quantum processors. Photon propagation and resonant coupling are commonly used for quantum information transfer, but they have limitations in terms of fidelity and bidirectionality. In this study, we demonstrate high-fidelity, on-demand, directional microwave photon emission by creating a chiral microwave waveguide using an artificial molecule.

Stabilizing two-qubit entanglement by mimicking a squeezed environment

L. C. G. Govia et al.

Summary: It is found in this study that the exotic phenomena of interaction between qubits and squeezed vacuum environment can be simulated by interfering excitation and decay processes without nonclassical light. The researchers propose schemes to stabilize entanglement between two remote qubits by modulating the qubit-waveguide coupling or directly driving the qubits, and analyze the robustness of these approaches and the trade-off between the speed and quality of entanglement stabilization.

Characterizing decoherence rates of a superconducting qubit by direct microwave scattering

Yong Lu et al.

Summary: The study experimentally investigates a superconducting qubit coupled to an open transmission line, showing that the pure dephasing rate is one order of magnitude smaller than the non-radiative decay rate for the qubit. By combining and contrasting results from various methods, consistent values for the extracted rates were found. This approach provides a pathway to benchmark decoherence rates of superconducting qubits in a resonator-free setting.

Ratchet effect in frequency-modulated waveguide-coupled emitter arrays

Alexander N. Poddubny et al.

Summary: This theoretical study explores the spatial distribution of polarizations in an array of resonant electromagnetic dipole emitters coupled to a one-dimensional waveguide. The ratchet effect, resulting in spatial asymmetry of emitter occupations under symmetrical pumping, is driven by periodic modulation of emitter resonance frequencies. The research identifies optimal conditions for maximal asymmetry and demonstrates that the ratchet effect can be enhanced by the formation of topological electromagnetic edge states enabled by frequency modulation.
