Stem Cell Mimicking Nanoencapsulation for Targeting Arthritis

Min Jun Shin et al.

Summary: Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) possess homing ability and show potential in treating malignant diseases and rheumatoid arthritis. The migration and targeting capabilities of MSCs can be enhanced through genetic engineering or modification. MSC mimicking nanoencapsulations, as an alternative strategy, have targeting and drug delivery advantages, especially in combination with genetic engineering in clinical settings.

Nanoconfinement of microvilli alters gene expression and boosts T cell activation

Morteza Aramesh et al.

Summary: Through promoting the formation of microvilli on nanoporous surfaces, gene expression in T cells can be significantly altered, leading to cell activation. The confinement of microvilli inside 200-nm pores results in the formation of TCR nanoclustered hotspots, facilitating sustained and augmented signaling that prompts T cell activation.

Diverse plasma membrane protrusions act as platforms for extracellular vesicle shedding

Kirsi Rilla

Summary: Plasma membrane curvature plays a crucial role in regulating cellular phenotype and extensions like filopodia and microvilli support various cellular functions. There is emerging evidence that cellular plasma membrane protrusions act as specialized platforms for the budding of extracellular vesicles (EVs).
