Association of starch crystalline pattern with acetylation property and its influence on gut microbota fermentation characteristics

Rui Wang et al.

Summary: Different types of starch exhibit different acetylation tendencies under the same reaction conditions. Acetylation affects starch crystalline structure and thermodynamic stability, leading to a reduction in surface pore structure. Acetylated starch granules produce more short-chain fatty acids during microbiome fermentation, with A-type starch fermented at a faster rate by gut bacteria microbiota and acylated starch more easily utilized by gut microbiota.

Bacillus subtilis as a robust host for biochemical production utilizing biomass

Seo A. Park et al.

Summary: Bacillus subtilis is considered a suitable host for biochemical production due to its excellent growth and bioresource utilization characteristics, as well as the adaptability of endogenous metabolic pathways and heterologous pathways. Its efficient protein secretion system makes it suitable for producing various biochemicals, while metabolic and genetic engineering techniques have improved production titers and product selectivity. This review highlights recent progress in utilizing robust B. subtilis-based host systems for biomass conversion and biochemical production, suggesting promising prospects for such host systems.
