HM-Chromanone Ameliorates Hyperglycemia and Dyslipidemia in Type 2 Diabetic Mice

Summary: The study investigated the effects of HMC on hyperglycemia and dyslipidemia in diabetic mice. HMC treatment significantly reduced blood glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin levels. It also improved lipid profile by decreasing total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, and triglyceride levels, while increasing HDL-C levels. HMC improved insulin resistance and regulated fatty acid synthase and oxidation-related genes. Therefore, HMC could effectively ameliorate hyperglycemia and dyslipidemia in type 2 diabetic mice.

Summary: Elevated levels of free fatty acids in the blood are often seen in obesity and contribute to insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes in the muscles. A compound called (E)-5-hydroxy-7-methoxy-3-(2-hydroxybenzyl)-4-chromanone has been found to have antidiabetic and anti-obesity properties. This study investigated how this compound can alleviate obesity-related insulin resistance in muscle cells. The results showed that the compound improved glucose uptake and insulin resistance by activating the AMPK pathway and inhibiting mTOR and S6K1.
