Inhibition of α-glucosidase by trilobatin and its mechanism: kinetics, interaction mechanism and molecular docking

Ming He et al.

Summary: Trilobatin, a compound in the dihydrochalcone family, has been found to effectively inhibit alpha-glucosidase in a noncompetitive manner. The binding of trilobatin to alpha-glucosidase is mainly driven by hydrogen bonding and van der Waals forces, leading to conformational changes in the enzyme. Molecular docking analysis helps identify the exact binding sites of trilobatin on alpha-glucosidase, showing its potential as a strong inhibitor for type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Effect of Trilobatin from Lithocarpus polystachyus Rehd on Gut Microbiota of Obese Rats Induced by a High-Fat Diet

Hailiang Shen et al.

Summary: Trilobatin from Lithocarpus polystachyus Rehd leaves was found to have antiobesity effects by reducing body weight gain and fat accumulation in obese rats, potentially through modulating gut microbiota composition. The study also indicated changes in metabolic pathways after trilobatin supplementation, suggesting a potential regulatory mechanism for high-fat diet-induced obesity.

Hypoglycemic and hypolipidemic activities of phlorizin from Lithocarpus polystachyus Rehd in diabetes rats

Wei Zhang et al.

Summary: Phlorizin treatment in rats with diabetes shows significant hypoglycemic and hypolipidemic effects by improving diabetic symptoms, lowering blood glucose, improving serum lipid levels, protecting the pancreas, and reducing hepatic fat deposition. These effects are dose-dependent, demonstrating therapeutic and preventive potential for hyperlipidemia and hyperglycemia in diabetes.

Astragaloside IV alleviates liver injury in type 2 diabetes due to promotion of AMPK/mTOR-mediated autophagy

Yunfeng Zhu et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that AS-IV treatment could restore changes in food intake, water intake, urine volume, and body weight, and improve liver function and glucose homeostasis in T2DM rats. Furthermore, AS-IV treatment promoted suppressed autophagy in the liver of T2DM rats and improved IR, dyslipidaemia, oxidative stress, and inflammation, suggesting that AS-IV alleviated diabetic liver injury in T2DM rats through the promotion of AMPK/mTOR-mediated autophagy.
