Comprehensive molecular profiling of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma in FNA, biopsy, and resection specimens

Dana Razzano et al.

Summary: This study compared the performance of FNA, FNB, and resection specimens for comprehensive molecular analysis of PDAC. The results showed similar success rates for FNA and FNB specimens, suggesting that FNA material could serve as an alternative source for molecular testing. The molecular alterations identified in these specimens may have potential diagnostic and therapeutic implications.

Neoadjuvant chemotherapy with or without radiotherapy versus upfront surgery for resectable pancreatic adenocarcinoma: a meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials

I. Ghanem et al.

Summary: This review analyzed the role of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NC) in resectable pancreatic cancer (RPC) and found that NC significantly improves overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) in RPC patients compared to upfront surgery (US). The review also showed that NC has a higher R0 resection rate compared to US. These findings highlight the importance of NC in the treatment of RPC.

Identification of Recessively Inherited Genetic Variants Potentially Linked to Pancreatic Cancer Risk

Ye Lu et al.

Summary: In this study, a re-analysis of pancreatic cancer GWAS data identified six SNPs associated with pancreatic cancer risk under a recessive genetic model. The results suggest the importance of considering non-additive genetic models in GWAS analysis and provide potential candidates for further meta-analysis to improve polygenic risk scores for pancreatic cancer. Additional bioinformatic analysis revealed a possible relationship between specific SNPs and genes known to be involved in pancreatic biology.

Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma, Version 2.2021

Margaret A. Tempero et al.

Summary: Pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer-related death in the United States, with a major challenge being advanced disease at diagnosis. While survival rates have not significantly changed, newer treatments, including targeted therapies, offer hope for patients. The manuscript focuses on systemic therapy approaches for locally advanced and metastatic disease.
