Field experiments conducted in Wisconsin showed that terminating the cover crop two weeks after cash crop planting resulted in lower weed ground cover in corn and soybean. The use of preemergence herbicides also effectively reduced weed ground cover, without affecting crop yield. These findings highlight the importance of preemergence herbicides and the potential benefits of late-terminated cereal rye cover crop in soybean.
