Data-Driven Prognostic Scheme for Bearings Based on a Novel Health Indicator and Gated Recurrent Unit Network

Qing Ni et al.

Summary: This article proposes a systematic prognostic scheme for rolling element bearings, which infers the degradation progression by developing a novel health indicator (HI). The proposed HI reflects the changes in the probability distribution of all cyclic power-spectra and eliminates random fluctuations for accurate prediction of remaining useful life (RUL). The scheme is integrated with a gated recurrent unit network and Bayesian optimization algorithm to establish an intelligent prognosis model with high prediction accuracy and generalization ability.

Digital twin-driven intelligent assessment of gear surface degradation

Ke Feng et al.

Summary: Gearbox is widely used as a power transmission system in various applications due to its compact structure, stable transmission capability, and high transmission efficiency. However, it usually operates in harsh and non-stationary working environments, causing gear surface degradation. To ensure reliable operation, it is essential to assess the progression of gear surface degradation. This paper develops a digital twin-driven intelligent health management method to monitor and assess the gear surface degradation progression, which can accurately predict the remaining useful life (RUL) of the gearbox.
