Reinforcement of Frictional Vibration Noise Reduction Properties of a Polymer Material by PTFE Particles

Naner Li et al.

Summary: The study found that an appropriate mass content of PTFE can significantly reduce the coefficients of friction and wear mass losses of the TPU composites by more than 50% and 40% respectively, while also showing excellent friction reduction properties. This helps in reducing frictional vibration and noise.

Nonlinear dynamic analysis of multiple grooved water-lubricated journal bearings using attenuation rate interpolation method

Qiang Li et al.

Summary: As the speed increases, the journal orbits go through steady state equilibrium motion, sub-harmonic motion, and limit circle motion successively. At the limit circle motion stage, the orbits are much larger than that of steady state equilibrium and sub-harmonic motion. The critical instability speed increases with decreasing spiral angle or increasing groove angle. The peak of the minimum water film thickness for MGWJB is at a rotor speed of 4,000 r/min with Sa=0 degrees.

Design and Characterization of the Surface Porous UHMWPE Composite Reinforced by Graphene Oxide

Xiaohong Chen et al.

Summary: Surface porous ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) composites were successfully fabricated by evenly dispersing NaCl and graphene oxide (GO) in the material. The addition of GO and NaCl improved wear resistance properties significantly and slightly increased friction properties. The regular pores on the UHMWPE surface after NaCl dissolution in distilled water contributed to the enhanced performance.

Tribological and mechanical behaviors of mollusk shell-ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene bio-composite

Besma Sidia et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the tribological and mechanical properties of the mollusk shell (MS)-ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) biocomposite against stainless steel. Results show that the addition of MS particles enhances the mechanical properties of UHMWPE, while the biocomposite exhibits high tribological performance compared to pure UHMWPE in terms of specific wear rate and coefficient of friction. The correlation between mechanical and tribological properties is examined, with the coefficient of friction showing reasonable correlation with hardness, fracture strain, fracture strength, and Young's modulus of the MS-UHMWPE biocomposite.

Summary: By calculating a three-dimensional mechanical model, a fluid-solid coupling model for water-lubricated journal bearings was proposed, showing the impact of journal bending on lubrication performance distribution and high pressure peaks at both ends of the bearing. As eccentricity increases and Young's modulus of lining decreases, the aggregation phenomenon intensifies.
