Comparison of Nighttime With Daytime Evapotranspiration Responses to Environmental Controls Across Temporal Scales Along a Climate Gradient

Qiong Han et al.

Summary: The study found that mean annual ETN/ETD values across different sites were mainly determined by ETD variations, with vegetation and meteorological variables controlling ETD while ETN was largely related to air temperature and net radiation. ETD and ETN exhibited higher correlations with meteorological and vegetation variables at monthly timescales, especially under drier climatic conditions.

A Graphical Interpretation of the Rescaled Complementary Relationship for Evapotranspiration

Richard D. Crago et al.

Summary: The wet-surface evaporation equations related to the Penman equation can be graphically represented on vapor pressure versus temperature graphs, using the Complementary Relationship between actual and apparent potential evaporation. The formulation provides a simple and intuitive geometric form allowing for a graphical estimate of latent heat flux. The approach works well with monthly data from multiple sites, even with a constant parameter value used for all sites, demonstrating good performance compared to other formulations.
