An antiparkinsonism drug entacapone removal from water onto Amberlite IRA-67: kinetic, thermodynamics, optimisation studies and determination by Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC)

Ozge Yalcin et al.

Summary: In this research, the adsorption properties of Entacapone were investigated using Amberlite IRA-67 as an adsorbent. The Langmuir isotherm model showed the best fit to the data, with a maximum adsorption capacity of 86.21 mg.g(-1). Weber-Morris intra-particle diffusion model was found to characterize the kinetic data well. Response surface methodology was applied for optimization and modeling, revealing the optimal adsorption parameters and experimental vs. predicted adsorption capacities. This study demonstrated Amberlite IRA-67 as an effective adsorbent for removing Entacapone from water.

Reactive Extraction of Monocarboxylic Acids (Formic, Acetic, and Propionic) Using Tributyl Phosphate in Green Solvents (Cyclopentyl Methyl Ether and 2-Methyltetrahydrofuran)

Feride Naime Turk et al.

Summary: The separation of monocarboxylic acids from aqueous solutions remains a current issue, with reactive extraction using green solvents being a promising alternative approach. Tributyl phosphate was used as the extractant, and 2-MeTHF was found to be a more effective solvent for physical extraction. Propionic acid showed the highest extraction efficiency among the acids studied.

Preparation of Copper Oxide Nanoparticles as a Novel Adsorbent for the Isolation of Tartaric Acid

Nilay Baylan et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the performance of CuO nanoparticles as an adsorbent for the removal of tartaric acid. CuO nanoparticles exhibited excellent removal properties for tartaric acid under various adsorption conditions, showing a high adsorption capacity. The results suggest that CuO nanoparticles could be employed as an efficient adsorbent for isolating tartaric acid from aqueous solution and wastewater.
