Arginine regulates inflammation response-induced by Fowl Adenovirus serotype 4 via JAK2/STAT3 pathway

Silin Xiang et al.

Summary: This study found that FAdV-4 infection can induce inflammatory response and activate the JAK2/STAT3 pathway. Additionally, arginine can protect hepatocytes against inflammation induced by FAdV-4 through the JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway.

Importin alpha 1 is required for the nucleus entry of Fowl Adenovirus serotype 4 Fiber-1 protein

Ruiling Huang et al.

Summary: This study revealed for the first time that the F1 protein of FAdV-4 is located in the nucleus after infection, and confirmed that importin alpha 1 binds to the NLS of F1 protein to localize it in the nucleus, promoting the proliferation of FAdV-4.

Dengue virus co-opts innate type 2 pathways to escape early control of viral replication

Chathuranga L. Fonseka et al.

Summary: Group 2 innate lymphoid cells are activated during acute dengue viral infection in humans and play a role in facilitating viral dissemination through downregulation of type I-IFN responsive gene and protein expression via prostaglandin D2. They also enhance monocyte infection and can be targeted for therapeutic intervention.

Genetic evolution of fowl adenovirus serotype 4 and its pathogenicity to Cherry Valley ducks in China

Bingrong Wu et al.

Summary: This study isolated and investigated a strain of FAdV-4 virus infecting ducks, revealing its pathogenicity and pathological changes in ducks. The experimental results showed that FAdV-4 infection caused hydropericardium and hepatitis symptoms in ducks, with severe liver and kidney damage and inflammatory response. The virus could be detected in multiple organs, with the highest viral load in the liver after intramuscular injection.

Foot-and-Mouth Disease Virus Structural Protein VP1 Destroys the Stability of the TPL2 Trimer by Degradation of TPL2 To Evade Host Antiviral Immunity

Keshan Zhang et al.

Summary: This study reveals the antiviral effect of host TPL2 during FMDV replication in promoting interferons and antiviral cytokines. FMDV and VP1 protein reduce host TPL2, ABIN2, and p105 to disrupt the TPL2-p105-ABIN2 trimer complex, leading to repression of TPL2-mediated antivirus activity. Vice protein interacts with TPL2 and degrades it through the proteasome pathway, shedding light on FMDV evasion mechanisms against host antivirus responses.

The Ubiquitin-Proteasome System in Immune Cells

Gonca cetin et al.

Summary: The ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS) is a crucial protein degradation system in cells, particularly impacting immune cells and their rapid functional remodeling during immune activation. Recent research has shed light on the molecular mechanisms by which UPS contributes to immune responses and its role in immune disorders like cancer and auto-inflammatory diseases.

Inhibition of PKR by Viruses

Teresa Cesaro et al.

Summary: PKR functions as both a sensor and an effector in the response to viral infections, self-activating after sensing double-stranded RNA molecules in infected cells to exert its antiviral function by blocking translation machinery and inducing apoptosis. Viruses have developed various strategies to counteract the antiviral potency of PKR, ranging from preventing double-stranded RNA recognition upstream from PKR activation to activating eIF2B downstream from PKR targets.

Co-immunoprecipitation and semi-quantitative immunoblotting for the analysis of protein-protein interactions

Christoph J. Burckhardt et al.

Summary: Co-immunoprecipitation is widely used in studying protein-protein interactions, but requires considerable optimization, and results are often presented non-quantitatively. This protocol offers an optimized workflow using semi-quantitative immunoblot densitometry for increased reliability and reproducibility.
