Interplay of ligand and strain effects in CO adsorption on bimetallic Cu/M (M = Ni, Ir, Pd, and Pt) catalysts from first-principles: Effect of different facets on catalysis

Deok Yeon Jo et al.

Summary: In this study, the relationship between CO adsorption energies and the chemical properties of Cu-based bimetallic catalysts was investigated. It was found that the ligand effect is the dominant contribution to CO adsorption, regardless of the type of facets. The ligand contribution is caused by the loss of electrons from the surface Cu atoms.

Gate-controlled reversible rectifying behavior investigated in a two-dimensional MoS2 diode

Qian Liu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the Schottky barrier and rectifying behavior of diodes made of 1T-MoS2 and 2H-MoS2 using density functional theory and ab initio quantum-transport simulation. The results showed that the diode with vertical contact exhibited better rectifying behavior, and gate voltage could effectively control the rectification of the diodes. Positive gate voltages increased current but weakened rectification ratios, while negative gate voltages reversed the rectifying direction.
