Pore space of steatite ceramics triggered by the allowance of natural fibers: High-resolution X-ray microscopy analysis and related thermo-mechanical properties

Lukas Perfler et al.

Summary: In this study, a large number of porous steatite ceramic rods were prepared using renewable plant fiber products as pore-forming agents. The three-dimensional pore space and microstructure were investigated using high-resolution 3D X-ray microscopy. The effect of porosity on the physical properties of the ceramics was evaluated, and it was found that increasing porosity leads to a decrease in flexural strength and thermal conductivity values.

An achromatic X-ray lens

Adam Kubec et al.

Summary: The authors have successfully realized an achromatic X-ray lens by combining a diffractive Fresnel zone plate and a refractive lens. This lens overcomes the chromatic aberration limitation of conventional X-ray optics and enables high-resolution imaging with broadband X-ray tube sources.

A high-resolution study of PM2.5 accumulation inside leaves in leaf stomata compared with non-stomatal areas using three-dimensional X-ray microscopy

Dele Chen et al.

Summary: Plant leaves can retain atmospheric particulate matter (PM), especially at the stomata. 3D X-ray microscopy scanning confirms that PM2.5 mainly enters leaves through stomata. This finding is crucial for understanding the translocation and interaction of PM2.5 with tissues and cells in leaves.
