Summary: This study investigated the circulation of West Nile virus in horses in eastern Yucatan, Mexico, and found recent infections indicated by the detection of IgM specific against WNV. Detection was through MAC-ELISA and RT-PCR techniques on serum samples from 184 horses, with 4.3% seropositive for WNV and 1.1% as suspects. No viral RNA was detected in the samples.
