Effect of a synbiotic supplement as an antibiotic alternative on broiler skeletal, physiological, and oxidative parameters under heat stress

J. Y. Hu et al.

Summary: This study examined the effect of synbiotics as alternatives to antibiotics in broiler production under heat stress. The results showed that synbiotic supplementation improved body weight, foot, and skeletal health in broilers, mitigating the negative effects of heat stress. Antibiotics, on the other hand, improved body weight but increased oxidative stress in broilers.

Effect of dietary tomato powder on growth performance and blood characteristics of heat-stressed broiler chickens

Omoniyi Oluwaferanmi Olugbenga et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of dietary tomato powder on performance and blood characteristics of broilers under heat stress condition. Results showed that the inclusion of tomato powder improved growth performance and feed efficiency, reduced mortality rate, and had no significant impact on most hematological parameters and serum enzymes. The optimal inclusion level was found to be 5% for improved growth, health, and production cost in heat-stressed broiler chickens.

Effect of agarwood leaf extract on production performance of broilers experiencing heat stress

Ujang Suryadi et al.

Summary: The research findings indicate that using agarwood leaf extract in feed significantly reduces heart rate and respiratory frequency of broilers without affecting body temperature and certain hematological parameters. Additionally, supplementing with agarwood leaf extract improves body weight, feed consumption, and feed conversion ratio of broilers.

The effect of activated silicon dioxide and betaine supplementation on quails' growth and productivity

Adi Ratriyanto et al.

Summary: The study found that combined supplementation with ASD and betaine improved the quails' growth performance during the starter period, but did not affect ovarian and follicular characteristics during the onset of the laying period. However, ASD and betaine were effective in enhancing egg production and weight.

Comparative effects of dietary functional nutrients on growth performance, meat quality, immune responses, and stress biomarkers in broiler chickens raised under heat stress conditions

Deok Yun Kim et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of dietary functional nutrients on broiler chickens raised under heat stress conditions. Results showed that while all functional nutrients decreased stress responses in broiler chickens, they were unable to fully alleviate the decreased productive performance of chickens raised under heat stress.

Effect of different levels of clove (Syzygium aromaticum L.) essential oil on growth performance and oxidative/nitrosative stress biomarkers in broilers under heat stress

Forogh Mohammadi

Summary: In this 49-day fully randomized trial, clove essential oil (CEO) showed potential as a replacement for synthetic antioxidants in broiler diets by significantly improving growth performance and reducing oxidative/nitrosative stress biomarkers under heat stress conditions. CEO supplementation, especially at the middle dose, contributed to improvements in body weight, body weight gain, and feed intake, indicating a concentration-dependent effect on oxidative/nitrosative stress biomarkers.

The effects of vitamin C and methionine hydroxy analog supplementation on performance, blood parameters, liver enzymes, thyroid hormones, antioxidant activity of blood plasma, intestine morphology, and HSP70 gene expression of broilers under heat stress

Mahsa Erfani et al.

Summary: The use of vitamin C and methionine hydroxy analog (MHA) was effective in reducing the negative effects of heat stress in broilers, as shown by improvements in blood glucose levels, reduction in LDL concentrations, and differences in liver enzyme concentrations and antioxidant activity compared to control. Additionally, T4 concentrations and intestinal villi dimensions were significantly increased in all experimental treatments compared to the control, while HSP70 gene expression was significantly reduced across all treatments.

Effect of Different Dietary Betaine Fortifications on Performance, Carcass Traits, Meat Quality, Blood Biochemistry, and Hematology of Broilers Exposed to Various Temperature Patterns

Ahmed A. Al-Sagan et al.

Summary: The experiment demonstrated that dietary fortification of betaine improved growth performance and production efficiency of broiler chickens, especially under high-temperature conditions. Betaine supplementation during heat stress reduced the negative impact on performance, suggesting it as a useful tool for improving poultry production in hot regions.
