Seabirds are facing high mortality rates due to highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) at wide scales. The spatial structure of seabird populations during breeding and their extensive time spent at sea make them unique systems to study the eco-epidemiological dynamics affected by movement and inter-species interactions.
Seabirds have recently been ex-periencing high rates of mortality across wide scales due to highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI). During breeding, seabird popula-tions are highly spatially structured, while over their lifetimes they spend much time at sea. This makes them unique systems in which to docu-ment how movement and inter -species interactions affect eco-epidemiological dynamics.
