Current state of pancreas transplantation in Japan based on the nationwide registry

Summary: In Japan, 437 pancreas transplantations were performed between 2000 and 2019. The survival rates post-transplantation were comparable to those in other countries, with simultaneous pancreas-kidney transplantation showing significantly better outcomes than pancreas-after-kidney transplantation or pancreas alone. The main concerns include pancreas graft loss and inferior outcomes after pancreas-after-kidney transplantation.
