Engineered clustered myoblast cell injection augments angiogenesis and muscle regeneration in peripheral artery disease

Keisuke Miyake et al.

Summary: This study developed a new method to enhance the efficacy of cell therapy in peripheral artery disease (PAD) using cell sheet technology. Administration of clustered cells (CCs) improved cell survival, blood perfusion, angiogenesis, muscle regeneration, and regulated inflammation status. These findings suggest the clinical potential of CCs in rescuing severely damaged limbs in PAD.

Alcohol-associated Liver Disease Is Now the Most Common Indication for Liver Transplant Waitlisting Among Young American Adults

George Philip et al.

Summary: This study found a significant increase in liver transplant waitlisting for young Americans with alcohol-associated liver disease (ALD). Young females were more likely to be listed for ALD compared to young males, and less likely to be listed for nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). In individuals aged 40 and above, there was a substantial increase in waitlisting for ALD and NAFLD.

Long-term outcomes of autologous skeletal myoblast cell-sheet transplantation for end-stage ischemic cardiomyopathy

Satoshi Kainuma et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the recovery of cardiac function in patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy following skeletal myoblast cell-sheet transplantation, with positive outcomes in long-term survival. Some patients showed good responses to the treatment, and preoperative renal and left ventricular function may predict the response to this therapy.
