Corrosion resistance of AlN monolayer and Al/AlN multilayer deposited by filtered cathodic vacuum arc

Comparative tribological behavior of TiN monolayer and Ti/TiN multilayers on AZ31 magnesium alloys

Summary: In this study, TiN monolayer and Ti/TiN multilayer coatings were prepared on AZ31 magnesium alloys by filter cathodic vacuum deposition, and their performance and wear mechanism during friction were investigated. The results show that although the TiN monolayer had the highest hardness, it failed during friction due to its poor resistance to crack propagation and poor deformation coordination with the substrate. On the other hand, the Ti/TiN multilayer coatings, with higher toughness, better resistance to crack propagation, and good deformation coordination with the substrate, were able to withstand the friction process.

Summary: The study investigated the wear and corrosion behavior of PTFE-containing PEO nanocomposite coatings on AZ80 magnesium alloy, showing that PTFE nanoparticles effectively sealed micropores in the coatings, reducing wear rate and friction coefficient, and improving corrosion resistance. Among the coatings, the one formed in aluminate electrolyte with PTFE nanoparticles exhibited the best wear resistance, while the coating obtained in phosphate electrolyte with PTFE nanoparticles showed the best corrosion performance.

Al?AlN composite coatings on AZ31 magnesium alloy for surface hardening and corrosion resistance

Summary: Al?AlN composite coatings were prepared on AZ31 magnesium alloy substrates using filtered cathodic vacuum arc deposition. The increase in substrate bias led to higher AlN phase content, lower Al phase content, and improved hardness of the coatings. The microstructure, coating thickness, and residual stress were found to be influenced by the substrate bias.
