Simultaneous electrochemical determination of nitrophenol isomers based on macroporous carbon functionalized with amino-bridged covalent organic polycalix[4]arenes

Summary: The glassy carbon electrode modified with hybrid, macroporous carbon functionalized with triazine bridged covalent organic polycalix[4]arenes has been successfully fabricated for simultaneous detection of nitrophenols. The electrode showed excellent separation ability for different nitrophenol isomers and high detection sensitivity, as well as good selectivity and stability for detecting nitrophenols in real environmental samples.

Pre-Anodized Graphite Pencil Electrode Coated with a Poly(Thionine) Film for Simultaneous Sensing of 3-Nitrophenol and 4-Nitrophenol in Environmental Water Samples

Summary: A simple and sensitive sensing protocol was developed using a pre-anodized graphite pencil electrode surface coated with poly(thionine) for simultaneous sensing of 3-nitrophenol and 4-nitrophenol. The poly(thionine) coated electrode exhibited enhanced electrocatalytic activity towards the reduction of both nitrophenols, allowing for their simultaneous analysis. The optimized experimental conditions resulted in a wide linear concentration range and low detection limits, with good recovery rates for real sample analysis. The sensor demonstrated promising selectivity, stability, and reproducibility for sensing 3-nitrophenol and 4-nitrophenol.

A ratiometric fluorescent probe based on carbon dots assembly for intracellular lysosomal polarity imaging with wide range response

Summary: In this study, a ratiometric fluorescent probe was designed and constructed for intracellular lysosomal polarity imaging. The probe exhibited a wider linear range of polarity response and effectively eliminated the interference of uneven distribution and instrument factors. The imaging observations of intracellular lysosomal polarity variation were demonstrated.

Eco-friendly nonconjugated polymer dots for chemiluminometric determination of 4-nitrophenol

Summary: Polymer dots (PDs) were synthesized and used for the chemiluminescence (CL) assay of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP). PDs significantly enhanced the CL signal of the Ce(IV)-Na2SO3 reaction. A probe was designed based on the high sensitivity and selectivity of PDs towards 4-NP, and successfully applied in the analysis of different spiked samples.

Kadsura-Shaped Covalent-Organic Framework Nanostructures for the Sensitive Detection and Removal of 2,4,6-Trinitrophenol

One-step straightfoward solid synthesis of high yield white fluorescent carbon dots for white light emitting diodes

Summary: In this study, white fluorescent carbon dots (W-CDs) were directly prepared using 1,6-dihydroxynaphthalene (1,6-DHN) and L-asparagine (L-Asn) as carbon sources through a simple solvent-free method. The as-prepared W-CDs can be obtained in high yield and used to fabricate relatively pure white LEDs, showing promising future for a wide range of optoelectronic devices.

Size-Dependent Photothermal Performance of Silicon Quantum Dots

Summary: Silicon quantum dots have demonstrated size-dependent photothermal effect and their photothermal responses are quantified using Raman spectroscopy. The study reveals that larger quantum dots exhibit enhanced photothermal effect and the temperature range of photothermal heat released from the quantum dots can be controlled between room temperature and 275 degrees Celsius. Additionally, surface modification of the quantum dots allows for solubility in water and the role of nonradiative channels in photothermal performance is highlighted.

Determination of phenols in natural and waste waters by capillary electrophoresis after preconcentration on magnetic nanoparticles coated with aminated hypercrosslinked polystyrene

Summary: An efficient sorbent for magnetic solid-phase extraction was developed from Fe3O4 nanoparticles covered with aminated hypercrosslinked polystyrene, with the optimum conditions identified for the extraction of 11 phenols. Capillary electrophoresis was applied successfully to separate and detect the phenol compounds, with optimized linear range and limits of detection obtained. However, the determination of phenols remains challenging in waters with high content of humic and fulvic acids.

Resorcin[4]arene-based microporous metal-organic framework/reduced graphene oxide composite as an electrocatalyst for effective and simultaneous determination of p-nitrophenol and o-nitrophenol isomers

Summary: A newly microporous metal-organic framework (MOF) was reported in this study, immobilized on graphene oxide to form a composite with good electrocatalytic activity for the reduction of nitrophenol isomers in electrochemical experiments. The Mn-MOF@RGO/GCE showed linear relationships and wide linear ranges for p-nitrophenol (p-NP), m-nitrophenol (m-NP) and o-nitrophenol (o-NP), with low limits of detections (LODs), and was able to simultaneously determine p-NP and o-NP.

Tunable light emission from carbon dots by controlling surface defects
