Wearable Eye Patch Biosensor for Noninvasive and Simultaneous Detection of Multiple Biomarkers in Human Tears

Jia Xu et al.

Summary: We have developed a novel noninvasive wearable biosensor that can simultaneously detect multiple key biomarkers in human tears. The biosensor is designed as a convenient eye patch that can be easily worn under the eyes. Different sensing regions on the eye patch are modified with specific chromogenic reagents to selectively determine pH, protein, ascorbic acid, and glucose in tears. The color signals from each sensing region on the eye patch are captured and analyzed using a smartphone, and a cloud model based on the internet of things concept is recommended for data analysis. Tear detection using this method shows good correlation with parallel measurements using assay kits, demonstrating the potential and versatility of this noninvasive eye patch biosensor for various tear biomarkers.

Towards high performance flexible planar supercapacitors: In-situ laser scribing doping and reduction of graphene oxide films

Aya Hamed et al.

Summary: A novel fabrication approach using a CO2 Laser system to achieve real-time doping, reduction, and patterning of graphene oxide-based films has been proposed in this study. Different types of planar supercapacitors were readily fabricated with high nitrogen and sulfur content in the graphene framework, leading to excellent electrochemical performance. The versatility of the proposed approach was demonstrated by achieving higher energy density, power density, and retention rate in flexible graphene-based electrochemical storage devices.
