Summary: The Ti-Zr-10Mo alloy exhibits high strength but poor ductility, and its biocompatibility is less favorable due to the presence of alpha' phase near grain boundaries. It is found that the biocompatibility of the alloy is better when it consists of a single beta-phase.

Thermal oxidation of novel Zr-Ti-Al-V alloy with high strength and toughness and its influence on the corrosion behavior

Yumiao Ding et al.

Summary: Thermal oxidation treatment of novel 47Zr-45Ti-5Al-3 V alloy at 600 degrees C for different durations resulted in improved corrosion resistance and pitting resistance compared to the substrate. The oxidation film properties and corrosion behavior of the samples were studied, showing enhanced performance after thermal oxidation. Thermodynamics and kinetics of the process were analyzed through Gibbs free energy calculations and oxidation weight gain tests.

Microstructure evolution, mechanical properties, and corrosion behavior of novel Zr-Ti-V alloys

Qiang Li et al.

Summary: The study systematically investigated the effects of different V contents on the microstructure and properties of Zr-Ti alloys. It was found that as the V content increases, the microstructure of the alloys changes and the plasticity is affected. A stable 13 alloy can be obtained when the V content is 8 at%. Additionally, the addition of V element reduces the corrosion resistance of the alloys.
